Welcome to the 2013-14 edition of The Pride, Western High School's Yearbook.

Our yearbook is student-funded and student-produced by a class of 9-12 grade students in the high school. They sell ads and books, make pages, take pictures and decide the format and theme of each year's book.

Our theme this year is "re-imagine". We will look back at the way Western has grown and changed. We will also document the construction in the district and how we are going to "re-imagine" with all the new structures and opportunities.

We welcome contributions through book sales, ad sales and pictures.

Feel free to drop off pictures taken at events on disks/thumbdrives or email them to us: erika.sponsler@westernschools.org

Talk to a yearbook staffer or email me (Ms. Sponsler) for information about buying an ad or sponsoring a page in the book. Anyone can do this, you don't have to be a business owner. A group of friends could buy a page, parents and relatives can put in "congrats" pages, clubs and organizations can buy ad space too. Page sponsorship is even easier! Just let us know you'd like to help and we'll get you the forms to fill out OR you can download them right here!

Book sales are on-going across the year. Each book costs about $80 to produce which is funded entirely through our sales of ads and books by the yearbook class. None of our publication costs are paid by the district. The price for a book starts at $45 during registration in Aug and increases with each semester. These prices have only increased by $10 in the last 20 years (I know because I was a student editor of The Pride in 1992!).

After the start of school, the current price increases to $55. That price remains until the semester when the price will increase to $65.Then in the fall they will be $75. Previous years' books are also available for $75--email to see if a specific year is available!

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to contact a yearbook staff member or email me:
Your support is the only way yearbook happens and we thank you for it!

Summer info 2013
ALL Parents, you are getting ready to start your student’s new year in high school! Yearbooks are currently available for $45 (or $50 with a name plate) and the price will go up again after the start of school in the fall.  These are available during iPad+ (registration) in August as well. Our yearbook is a fall delivery book so that we may include spring activities. You are ordering a book for this NEW year. Last year’s book will be available in Sept.

To order a yearbook, you have many options this year: You can fill out the form at the bottom of the page (combo form) and mail it to the school Attn: Erika Sponsler, you can bring it to registration OR you can purchase a yearbook on-line (link in the right hand column). If you purchase on-line, you can pay with a credit card and there are tons of options available from the company, which we don’t offer for in-school sales. Students can order icons to add to their name plate—like a soccer ball or year of graduation, they can order autograph inserts, plastic protective covers and much more!

Just go to www.yearbooksforever.com (link to the right) and search for Western High School in Parma and you’ll have the opportunity to select a package or customize your book for the 2011-12 year. You can also order ads online! If you or someone you know would like to support the student-funded yearbook, you can order them in the same place or fill out the additional for on the back.

Senior Parents: It’s your student’s LAST year at Western and we know you’re excited and nervous—so much to do!! Yearbook would also like you to be thinking about senior picture requirements. You should be scheduling/completing appointments with photographers NOW.  Your senior’s pictures will be due to the yearbook by the first of December. You can have your photographer email us a digital copy or they can provide you with a hard copy and/or a disk. (email below) A digital copy of the picture is easiest for us and results in the best quality picture in our book. We do not have many “requirements” for senior pictures but ask that pictures meet dress code and suggest a vertical pose for best results in fitting the image to the frame on our pages. Baby pictures to be used in the senior section are due at the same time—again, a digital copy is easiest but we can scan your original if necessary. There is a late fee assessed for those who submit pictures late--turn them in ASAP.

You also have the opportunity to put a ‘senior’ ad in the yearbook! Many parents want to put in a little “congrats” or a collection of baby and senior pictures to commemorate their senior’s graduation.  You can create the ad yourself on your computer and send it in as a JPG or we can create it for you. A staff created ad will need you to send us your images and text. We always STRONGLY recommend that you don’t send the original (IE your ONLY copy!) of your pictures. Scanning them and/or submitting digital pictures is best. We can receive images via email at the address listed below OR you can save them on a disk or thumb drive and bring them in.  If you are interested in purchasing an ad, these need to be turned into Ms. Sponsler ASAP.

There is an ad agreement included on the combo form below. We are asking that you pay for your ad when purchasing.  If you do not, you will be billed and your ad will not be printed until payment is received. Ad prices, unlike book prices, do not change across the year--order any time.

You may also call and leave a message at the school I will get back with you as soon as possible, call Ms. Erika Sponsler’s room at 841-8201 but during the summer, email is the easiest way to contact the yearbook at erika.sponsler@westernschools.org

Thank you from the staff of The Pride.
